Castellina in Chianti

The municipal territory spans across three river valleys among hills covered with vineyards, olive groves and forests at 578 meters elevation.

In the 11th century, Matilda of Tuscany granted Castellina, then known as Salingolpe, as a feudal estate to the Guidi counts.
