Stadio Friuli, Sports stadium in Udine, Italy.
Stadio Friuli is a sports arena in Udine, Italy, featuring curved concrete stands and metal framework wrapped around a rectangular pitch. Seating is arranged across several tiers, offering space for more than 25,000 spectators in total.
Construction started in 1971 under architect Lorenzo Giacomuzzi-Moore's direction, and the opening took place in 1976. The new ground replaced the older Stadio Moretti, which had previously served as home venue.
The venue takes its name from the Friuli region and draws supporters from across the province who follow the local club here. Rugby matches also take place, with both sports sharing equal use of the grass playing surface.
The ground sits roughly four kilometers from central Udine and is reachable via regular bus routes. Dedicated parking areas are available on site, though they fill more quickly on match days.
In 1992 the ground transformed into a religious gathering site when Pope John Paul II celebrated mass before 30,000 attendees. Seating was temporarily removed to open the entire pitch for worshippers.
