Santa Maria ad Ogni Bene dei Sette Dolori

Santa Maria ad Ogni Bene dei Sette Dolori is a baroque church in Naples built on a slope with a prominent exterior staircase made of local stone. The structure features a two-tiered facade and sits adjacent to the former Santissima Trinità convent, its layout shaped by the uneven terrain.

This place began as a small shrine in 1411 and gradually expanded over the following centuries. The baroque transformation took shape later as the site became linked to the adjacent convent and adapted to changing religious practices.

The building developed from a rural shrine into a place of worship tied to a nearby convent, shaping its role in the neighborhood. Inside, paintings and sculptures reflect the religious devotion that guided its decoration and use.

Access to the church is via a stone staircase starting at Via Francesco Girardi, which climbs to the entrance. The stepped approach takes some effort due to the sloping terrain, so plan accordingly and wear suitable footwear.

The church floor is covered with colorful majolica tiles laid down in the middle of the 18th century and still visible today. These ceramic works display the craftsmanship typical of interior decoration from that time period.
