Baths of Diocletian, Archaeological site near Termini Station, Rome, Italy.

The Baths of Diocletian extend across 13 hectares with multiple chambers, containing preserved vaulted ceilings and an ancient swimming area called natatio.

Emperor Maximian ordered the construction of these thermal baths between 298 and 306 AD, creating facilities that accommodated 3000 people simultaneously.

The National Roman Museum within the baths displays over 10,000 Latin inscriptions, documenting the evolution of writing throughout ancient Rome.

The site combines access to both the archaeological remains and the Church of Santa Maria degli Angeli, with guided tours available throughout the day.

Michelangelo transformed parts of the ancient thermal complex into a church in 1561, integrating Renaissance architecture with original Roman structures.
