San Giovanni dei Napoletani features a narrow western facade on Via Vittorio Emanuele and a secondary facade facing the Giardino Garibaldi within Piazza Marina.
The church was founded in 1527 by the confraternity of San Giovanni Battista la Nazione Napoletana to serve Neapolitan merchants operating in Palermo.
The interior displays neoclassical stucco decorations by Procopio Serpotta, including apse statuary representing four virtues: Prudence, Temperance, Justice, and Fortitude.
The church stands near the harbor area of Palermo, positioned diagonally across from the church of Santa Maria della Catena.
The apse features an octagonal dome decorated with colored maiolica tiles and contains two chapels dedicated to the Holy Spirit and Glory of God.
