The Galleria Regionale della Sicilia presents Sicilian artworks from medieval times through the eighteenth century within the Gothic Palazzo Abatellis.
Francesco Abatellis, the port master of Sicily, commissioned architect Matteo Carnalivari to design this Gothic palace between 1490 and 1495.
The museum exhibits the Virgin Annunciate by Antonello da Messina, combining Italian and Flemish artistic influences of the fifteenth century.
Located at Via Alloro 4, the gallery opens Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, allowing visitors to explore regional art collections.
The Triumph of Death fresco depicts Death as a skeleton on horseback, showing aristocrats beneath while common people observe from the sides.
