Galleria Estense, National art museum in Modena, Italy
The Galleria Estense occupies the top floor of Palazzo dei Musei, displaying paintings, sculptures, and decorative arts across sixteen exhibition rooms and four large salons.
Duke Cesare I of Este moved the museum collections from Ferrara to Modena in 1598, establishing a new cultural center for the ducal dynasty.
The museum houses notable works by Italian masters including Correggio, Guido Reni, and Bernini, alongside Flemish, German, and French artistic contributions.
Located at Largo Porta Sant'Agostino 337, the museum opens Tuesday through Saturday from 8:30 AM to 7:30 PM and Sundays from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
The collection features the Estense Harp, a handcrafted double harp of such significance that it appeared on Italian currency.
