Monte Poggiolo

Monte Poggiolo is a roughly 212-meter-high hill in the Montone River valley in Forlì-Cesena and was once home to a Renaissance fortification. The summit offers distinct slopes and a network of natural pathways that crisscross the terrain.

A Renaissance castle was built on the hill in 1471 and featured a distinctive diamond-shaped plan with four corner towers. This fortification represented an important phase in regional defensive architecture during the 15th century.
