Campo del Sole, Outdoor sculpture park in Tuoro sul Trasimeno, Italy
Campo del Sole is an art park with 27 stone columns arranged in a spiral pattern that leads to a central table topped with a solar symbol. The columns are made from local grey sandstone and form an impressive geometric composition in the open landscape.
The project was created between 1985 and 1989 through the collaboration of various international artists who left their works at this site near Lake Trasimeno. The creation of the park marked a new artistic initiative in this rural region.
The columns were created by artists from different countries, each bringing their own artistic vision to the work. This international collaboration turned the site into a meeting place where various artistic traditions and perspectives came together.
The park is located near the Tuoro sul Trasimeno exit of the A6 Bettolle-Perugia road and is easily accessible for visitors exploring the lake region. Access is free and the grounds are open for walking at any time of day.
The spiral arrangement of the columns echoes ancient stone circles, with views of Lake Trasimeno in the distance. This blend of contemporary design and ancient inspiration creates an unexpected dialogue between modern art and historical reference.
