Emilio Comici hut is a mountain restaurant in Val Gardena located at about 2153 meters elevation at the foot of Langkofel in South Tyrol. The building serves food and drinks without offering overnight accommodations and is open daily to visitors.
Construction of the building began in 1948 and it was officially opened in 1950 by a group of skiing enthusiasts, including ski pioneer Gianni Marzola. The opening was part of the growth of winter sports activities in this popular Dolomites area.
The hut is named after Italian mountaineer Emilio Comici and has drawn many notable visitors over the years who come to ski or hike in the region. Today it serves as a meeting point for people who spend time in the mountains and want to connect with others.
The restaurant has no overnight accommodations but serves hot meals daily between 9 AM and 5:30 PM. It is wise to make a reservation ahead of time during busy periods to ensure you get a table.
Despite its high mountain location, the restaurant serves fish dishes from Grado lagoon, creating an unexpected culinary experience at elevation. This choice shows the connection between the Dolomites and the coastal regions of Friuli-Venezia Giulia.
