Ücia Pederü, Mountain hut in Al Plan, Italy
Ücia Pederü is a mountain hut in the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park in the Dolomites, South Tyrol, offering rooms and meals for hikers. It has its own power supply, pellet heating, vehicle parking, and storage space for outdoor gear.
The building was used as a military barrack during World War I and was converted into a mountain refuge in 1935. Since then it has served as a base for travelers moving through this part of the Dolomites.
The kitchen at Ücia Pederü serves traditional South Tyrolean food, cooked following recipes that have been passed down through mountain communities in this area. Sitting at one of the wooden tables, visitors can eat alongside local hikers and get a sense of everyday life in this part of the Alps.
The hut is easy to reach by car, with a parking area right on site. Mountain weather in the Dolomites can shift fast, so bringing warm and waterproof layers is a good idea regardless of the season.
Although the hut is easy to reach by road, it sits at the entrance to one of the least visited high valleys in the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park. Paths leaving from here quickly lead into areas that see very few people even in summer.
