Perusia is an archaeological site in Umbria that spreads over several kilometers and displays remains of an ancient city. The ruins include city walls, several gates with different architectural elements, and other structures from various periods.
The city was founded by Etruscans and grew into a leading settlement of the region. After key political changes, it later became the Roman city of Augusta Perusia.
The Etruscan well in Piazza Danti shows how ancient residents managed water for the city. You can see the engineering skill of the people who lived here long ago.
The archaeological site is accessible through a route that passes five preserved gates showing different construction phases. The best time to explore is during cooler months when the heat is less intense.
