Perusia, Archaeological site in Umbria, Italy
The archaeological complex extends over 3 kilometers around Colle Landone and Monte Sole, featuring substantial remains of ancient city walls and gates.
The settlement, established by Etruscans in the 4th century BC, reached its peak after the defeat of Volsinii in 280 BC as a leading Etruscan city.
The Etruscan well from the 3rd century BC in Piazza Danti stands as a testament to advanced engineering and water management systems.
Visitors can explore five preserved gates within the archaeological circuit, each displaying architectural elements from different construction periods.
The site contains inscriptions dating from 1-14 AD that document the city's transition from Perusia to Augusta Perusia under Emperor Augustus.
