Palazzo dei Priori is a Gothic city palace at Piazza IV Novembre in Perugia, running along Corso Vannucci. The facades are irregular and show Gothic windows, trefoil portals, and ornate elements from different building phases.
Construction began in 1293 with the section of the Captain of the People, designed by Giacomo di Servadio and Giovanello di Benevento. The complex was extended over one and a half centuries and completed in 1443.
The Hall of Notaries shows medieval wall paintings featuring stories from Aesop's Fables, visible above the high vaults. Visitors can see the old council chambers, which are also used for exhibitions today.
Bus lines Z20 and Z21 stop at Piazza Giacomo Matteotti, roughly 170 meters from the entrance. Visitors can explore several rooms inside, including the upper floors with the National Gallery of Umbria.
A bronze statue of the griffin, the city symbol, hangs on the facade alongside lion sculptures from the 13th century. These symbols recall the former political power of Perugia in the Umbria region.
