International Library La Vigna, Agricultural documentation center in Vicenza, Italy
International Library La Vigna occupies the first floor of Palazzo Brusarosco and houses around 50,000 works about agriculture, vineyard management, and wine production. The collection contains documents, books, and materials covering various aspects of farming practices and production methods.
The library was founded in 1981 when entrepreneur Demetrio Zaccaria donated his collection of 10,000 books and Palazzo Brusarosco to the city of Vicenza. This gift established an institution dedicated to preserving knowledge about agricultural development and practice.
The library holds rare historical volumes about farming and wine production that show how people across Europe have practiced and documented these crafts. Visitors can see works spanning centuries that reflect the enduring importance of agriculture in regional life.
The library is located centrally in Vicenza at Contrà Porta Santa Croce 3 and is easily accessible on foot. The collections are primarily designed for research purposes, so visitors should check opening hours and access requirements before planning a visit.
The collection includes a specialized section with around 1,100 books documenting agricultural economics across Europe and a separate section with about 400 volumes on hunting traditions. These different sections reveal how farming was connected to other rural practices in European life.
