San Rocco

San Rocco is a Renaissance church with a wide nave and vaulted ceilings that distribute light and space elegantly. The interior features a single-nave layout with cross-ribbed vaults in the presbytery and a pentagonal apse.

Construction started in 1485 on the site of an older prayer house, and the front facade was enlarged decades later. The church evolved during a time when Renaissance style was strengthening across the region.

The church holds artworks that show how local Renaissance painters expressed their own traditions in religious scenes. The interior displays pieces that reflect the spiritual devotion of the community.

The building sits in the western part of the historical center and is accessible by public transportation. Visitors should check when religious services take place to find the best times for exploring the interior.

A large painting of a Pentecost scene by a local sixteenth-century painter adorns the inner right wall. This work showcases the religious passion and artistic skill of that era.
