Torino Palasport Olimpico, Indoor arena in Santa Rita district, Turin, Italy
Torino Palasport Olimpico is a modern multipurpose arena in the Olympic Park with a four-level rectangular structure measuring about 200 meters long. The stainless steel and glass exterior houses sophisticated retractable seating systems that allow the interior to be quickly reconfigured for different events.
The arena was constructed for the 2006 Winter Olympics and opened in December 2005 to host ice hockey competitions. The project became part of Turin's Olympic Park infrastructure that reshaped the city's sports landscape.
The venue shifts between different sports configurations and concert setups to accommodate various events, hosting everything from ice hockey to tennis matches. This flexibility allows the space to serve both local and international audiences throughout the year.
The venue sits east of the Olympic Stadium within the Olympic Park and is easy to reach from multiple entrances. The building features wheelchair accessibility and good facilities for all kinds of visitors.
The building was designed by Japanese architect Arata Isozaki, whose minimalist approach defines the structure. Since 2021, the arena has hosted the ATP Finals, showing how a venue can evolve well beyond its original purpose.
