The Museo dell'Automobile is an automobile museum in Turin, Italy, displaying around 200 original vehicles from 80 different manufacturers across three exhibition floors. The collection includes cars from several continents and covers more than a century of automotive history.
The museum opened on November 3, 1960, through the initiative of Carlo Biscaretti di Ruffia. Among the first exhibits was an 1896 Bernardi, one of the earliest Italian-built automobiles.
The name honors Turin founder Carlo Biscaretti di Ruffia, whose vision was to preserve the heritage of the automotive industry. Visitors today see vehicles ranging from European makers to American and Asian brands that trace the evolution of personal mobility.
The museum is located on Corso Unità d'Italia 40 and opens Monday from 10 am to 2 pm and Tuesday through Sunday from 10 am to 7 pm. A visit typically takes two to three hours, depending on your interest in the vehicles and exhibits.
The facility houses a documentation center with data sheets, photographs, construction plans, and sales brochures in partnership with the Italian cultural ministry. A specialized library of around 7,000 titles covers topics such as racing, technology, and industrial history.
