Arch of Trajan, Roman triumphal arch in Benevento, Italy.

The limestone arch stands 51 feet tall and 28 feet wide, featuring detailed reliefs depicting Trajan's military achievements and imperial scenes across its surface.

The Senate and people of Rome constructed this monument between 114 and 117 AD to commemorate Emperor Trajan's victories in Dacia and the creation of Via Traiana.

The decorative panels present personifications of the Danube and Mesopotamia regions, along with depictions of the Four Seasons, Rome, Fortune, Victory, and Military Loyalty.

Located at the entrance of ancient Via Appia, this monument remains accessible to visitors throughout the year and includes informative displays at the nearby Videomuseum.

During the Middle Ages, the Lombards incorporated this structure into the city walls, transforming it into Porta Aurea until its isolation in 1850.
