Chiesa del Santissimo Salvatore, Medieval church in central Benevento, Italy
The church structure features three naves divided by two rows of ancient Roman columns made of gray granite, creating a balanced interior layout.
Following severe damage from the 1688 earthquake, Cardinal Orsini supervised the reconstruction and reconsecrated the church in 1696 with updated architectural elements.
The church represents a central part of Benevento's religious heritage, maintaining its function as one of the oldest parish churches in the city.
Located on Via Stefano Borgia, the church reopened in 2001 after extensive restoration work that began following earthquake damage in 1962.
The restoration completed in 1999 deliberately preserved visible traces of historical modifications, allowing visitors to observe the building's architectural evolution.
