Agrigento Cathedral, Minor basilica and cathedral in Agrigento, Italy

The cathedral features three naves divided by Gothic arches resting on octagonal pillars, with a painted wooden ceiling displaying Charles V's double-headed eagle.

Founded in 1001 and consecrated in 1099, the cathedral marked the restoration of the bishop's seat in Agrigento after a period of disruption.

The cathedral incorporates Norman-Arab-Byzantine, Chiaramonte, Sicilian Baroque, and Renaissance architectural elements, reflecting Sicily's multicultural heritage through centuries.

During November maintenance closure, Sunday masses take place at the nearby Church of S. Alfonso at 08:30, 11:30, and 20:00.

The cathedral archives contain an unexplained 17th-century manuscript known as the devil's letter, filled with indecipherable characters addressed to a nun.
