The Cathedral features a grand stone staircase that splits into four branches, reaching a height of 25 meters with a width of 32.4 meters.
Following the devastating earthquake of 1688, Count Marzio Carafa and his brother Marino initiated the cathedral's reconstruction at the center of the new town.
The cathedral displays numerous 18th-century paintings, wooden statues, local ceramics, and multiple altars decorated with inlaid polychrome marble throughout its interior.
Located in the heart of Cerreto Sannita, the cathedral serves as the main religious building in the diocese of Cerreto Sannita-Telese-Sant'Agata de' Goti.
During World War I, the cathedral's interior space was converted to accommodate troops, resulting in damage to several sacred furnishings.
