Ex Monastero delle Clarisse

The Ex Monastero delle Clarisse extends over 2,000 square meters, with dimensions of 58.5 meters in length, 32.4 meters in width, and 25 meters in height.

Founded in 1369 by Francesca Sanframondi, the monastery underwent complete reconstruction after the earthquake of 1688 that destroyed the original settlement.

The monastery houses an extensive collection of 18th-century paintings, wooden statues, ceramic floors, and altars made from polychrome marble.

The structure now functions as both a historical monument and an educational facility, managed by the Sisters of Charity since the early 20th century.

The exterior features a distinctive stone staircase and a bell tower added in the early 1700s, marking it as the largest church in the diocese.
