Palazzo del viceconte, 18th century palace in Cerreto Sannita, Italy.
The Palazzo del viceconte displays a rectangular structure with plaster decorations and a prominent entrance portal made of diamond-pointed stones from ancient Cerreto.
After the 1688 earthquake, cloth merchant Nicola Mendillo commissioned the palace, which later became the residence of the viceconte under Carafa counts' administration.
The palace reflects the complex social relationships between nobility and citizens, as evidenced by the 1737 conflicts between the viceconte and local population.
Located at the intersection of the ducal cartoniera, the palace features a terrace supported by stone arches that provides views over the garden.
The southern section of the palace remains incomplete since the 18th century when the Mendillo family relocated to their Sassinoro estate.
