Monte dei Porri, Volcanic mountain summit in Salina, Italy

Monte dei Porri rises to 860 meters on the island of Salina and forms a distinct peak in the Aeolian archipelago. The slopes show dark volcanic rock and various geological layers that reveal the mountain's volcanic past.

This mountain formed through volcanic activity between 60,000 and 30,000 years ago, leaving behind different types of rock. This deep history is visible in the varied layers you see while climbing.

The trails pass through farmland where locals grow grapes for Malvasia wine using methods passed down through generations. This way of farming shapes how the landscape looks and feels when you walk through it.

A trail from Valdichiesa village leads to the summit and requires sturdy footwear due to steep terrain and loose volcanic rock. Bring plenty of water since there is little shade along the way and the sun can be quite strong.

The mountain's name comes from wild leek plants that once covered its slopes. This old botanical feature is less common today but shows how nature shaped the area.
