Asti City Walls

Asti City Walls form a medieval fortification system that encircles the historic center with substantial stone barriers, towers, and access points positioned at key locations. Various sections display different building styles, reflecting construction phases across multiple centuries.

These walls have roots in Roman fortifications dating to 89 BC, which were significantly expanded during the 12th century. This expansion occurred as Asti grew into a major trading center in northern Italy.
