The Palazzo del Podestà stands at the intersection of Via dei Cappellai and Via Incisa, featuring a red brick facade with round windows and decorative friezes.
Built in the 13th century, this three-story structure initially served as the municipal headquarters of Asti, with its basement functioning as a salt and grain storage.
The building reveals medieval architectural techniques through its cross vaults, central brick pillar, and white-red architraves adorning the monofore and bifore windows.
The palace location allows visitors to explore other medieval structures nearby, including the Trojan Tower, Comentina Tower, and Guttuari Tower within walking distance.
Historical records indicate the presence of a market on the south side of the building, which later moved to Piazza San Secondo.
