Zoosafari Fasanolandia, Animal theme park in Fasano, Italy
Zoosafari Fasanolandia is an animal park in Fasano, Italy, that combines a safari route for vehicles with walking paths and a fairground area. The site covers hilly ground with Mediterranean vegetation and includes large enclosures where wildlife such as lions, tigers, elephants, and giraffes can be watched from inside a vehicle, as well as smaller enclosures and rides for visitors on foot.
The site opened in 1973 and was one of the first safari parks in Italy, allowing visitors to see large animals from their car. The fairground section was added later to create a broader offer for families and to boost tourism development in Puglia.
The park takes its name from the nearby town and combines two sections that offer different ways to meet animals. In the safari area, visitors move through open enclosures in their own vehicle, while rides and themed zones attract families with children, appealing to a wide audience.
The safari section is covered in your own vehicle, and you should keep windows closed when near predators. The walking paths and rides are in a separate area that you reach after driving through the safari zone, where you can step out of your car.
The park is home to the only male African elephant in Italy, making it an important site for elephant conservation in the country. There is also a collection of historical tools and medieval objects from Puglia displayed in a separate museum, offering an unexpected look into regional history.
