Fasanolandia, Theme park in Fasano, Italy
Fasanolandia is a theme park and safari reserve in the hills of Fasano that combines wildlife enclosures with rides and attractions. The complex divides into two main sections: a drive-through safari area and a traditional amusement zone with coasters and games.
The park opened in 1973, introducing a new form of entertainment to southern Italy by blending wildlife observation with mechanical rides. The site expanded over the following decades, adding roller coasters and themed areas to its original safari layout.
The facility maintains the only male African elephant in Italy, along with numerous other species including lions, tigers, bears, and a collection of primates.
Visitors drive their own cars through the safari sections and then explore the amusement rides on foot. The facility sits near highway A14 and is about six kilometers (3.7 miles) from the nearest train station.
A Eurofighter roller coaster drops at a 97-degree angle, making it one of the steepest descents in Europe. The park is home to the only male African elephant in all of Italy.
