Fasano, Administrative town in Province of Brindisi, Italy
Fasano extends from the Murge hills to the Adriatic Sea, featuring ancient fortified farms and traditional white-colored trulli among centuries-old olive groves.
The settlement originated as Casale di Santa Maria di Fajano in 1088, providing refuge from Saracen raids before becoming a fiefdom of the Knights of Malta.
The Scamiciata festival presents historical reenactments of the 1678 Turkish defeat, with period costumes, parades, traditional dances, and firework displays each June.
Fasano station serves as a primary stop on the Adriatic railway line, while the SS 16 highway provides direct access to both the town and Savelletri.
The Archaeological Park of Egnatia contains remains of a Messapian settlement, including a necropolis, Roman forum, amphitheater, and early Christian basilica.
