The marble arch features two stacked arches with Corinthian columns and stands 35 meters tall between two defensive towers of Castel Nuovo.
The arch commemorates Alfonso V of Aragon's triumphant entry into Naples on February 26, 1443, marking the beginning of Aragonese rule in southern Italy.
Nine different sculptors, including Domenico Gagini and Francesco Laurana, created reliefs depicting Alfonso's entry into Naples and statues representing cardinal virtues.
The entrance arch connects the exterior plaza to the castle's courtyard, serving as the main access point for visitors exploring the medieval fortress.
The lower level displays a Quadriga relief showing Alfonso in a chariot, while two trumpeting genii figures stand at the structure's summit.
