Basilica del Carmine, Minor basilica and parish church in Piazza Petrarca, Padua, Italy.
The Basilica del Carmine features a single nave with a high dome and six side chapels, including marble decorations and Renaissance frescoes.
The church's construction began in 1212, underwent major reconstruction in 1335, and received the minor basilica title from Pope John XXIII in 1960.
The Madonna dei Lumini fresco, created by Stefano dall'Arzere, remains central to local worship and processions since the plague of 1576.
The basilica opens daily for religious services and visitors can explore both the main church and the adjacent Scuola del Carmine with its 16th-century frescoes.
The church survived multiple natural disasters, including earthquakes in 1491 and 1696, and aerial bombardments during both World Wars.
