Church of San Giacomo

Church of San Giacomo is a Romanesque church building in the historic center of Trani with characteristic features from this architectural style. Inside, a single nave contains two altars dating from the 17th century.

The building was originally called Santa Maria de Russis and its construction began in 1143. After the earthquake of 1647, the facade received significant modifications.

The church served as a gathering place for religious confraternities that organized processions and ceremonies within its walls. These community groups left their mark on the spiritual life of the city through their activities here.
