Sant'Agata al Borgo is a baroque church on the northern side of Piazza Cavour, featuring a single nave with early 18th-century decorations. The interior walls are adorned with frescoes by Giovanni Lo Coco, which fill the space with artistic detail.
History
The church was founded in 1669 to serve people displaced by an eruption of Mount Etna. After the devastating earthquake of 1693, the building was reconstructed in 1709 in baroque style.
