CityLife, Building complex in Milan, Italy
CityLife is a city district in northwest Milan with three high-rise towers and low residential blocks around green open spaces. The towers each stand about 30 stories tall and are surrounded by wide pedestrian zones with trees and benches.
The site developed after the Milan trade fair moved to Rho in the early 2000s. Construction started after 2010 and continues in some parts today.
The district combines apartments with shops and offices around a large plaza where families and joggers gather. Pedestrian paths run through several connected parks that serve as popular recreational areas.
The area is accessible via metro line 5 at Tre Torri station and has bicycle racks and seating areas throughout the parks. Many zones are wheelchair accessible and visitors can walk freely through the outdoor spaces during daylight hours.
Cars are not allowed to drive through nearly the entire area, with only deliveries and emergency vehicles permitted. The wide walkways and bike lanes run through the whole district without interruption by streets.
