The Istituto Centrale per la Patologia degli Archivi e del Libro operates laboratories dedicated to the restoration and preservation of archives and books from across Italy.
The institute emerged in 2007 through the merger of the Central Institute for Book Pathology and the State Archives Photoreproduction, Binding and Restoration Center.
The institute maintains a museum and specialized library while conducting scientific research on the preservation of historical documents and publications.
Students can enroll in a five-year program at the School of Advanced Training, earning a master's degree equivalent in Cultural Heritage Conservation and Restoration.
The facility houses specialized laboratories for biology, chemistry, preventive conservation, and restoration of cinematographic materials.
