Monumento all'Italia

The Monumento all'Italia is a white marble statue standing about 3 meters high in Piazza Italia, showing a crowned female figure. She holds a sword in one hand and a laurel wreath in the other, representing struggle and victory.

Built in 1868, this monument honors those who fought against Bourbon rule during the events of September 2, 1847. That date marks a key moment in Italy's struggle toward unity and independence.

The crowned figure on the monument was created by sculptor Rocco Larussa to represent Italy itself as a nation. You can see how the statue embodies the idea of freedom and independence that mattered so much during that era.
