Montemarcello is a historic village in Ameglia situated at around 266 meters above sea level within the Regional Natural Park of Montemarcello-Magra, defined by stone buildings and narrow winding streets. The village name references Roman consul Claudio Marcello, who defeated the local inhabitants in 155 BC during Rome's territorial expansion in this region. The medieval settlement that developed here later grew from this ancient foundation and presence.
