Palazzo Carlotti, 17th-century palace in Corso Cavour, Verona, Italy
Palazzo Carlotti is a 17th-century building on Corso Cavour in Verona, designed by Prospero Schiavi in Baroque style. The structure spans multiple floors with classical facade elements and a grand entrance portal.
Construction began around 1665, with the Carlotti brothers later purchasing adjacent properties to expand the residence. These expansion phases in 1673 and 1698 show how the family gradually enlarged their holdings.
The Carlotti family, originally from Garda, commissioned this palace as a symbol of their wealth after serving Venice for generations. The building reflects the taste of Venetian aristocracy and shows how wealthy families expressed their power through architecture.
The building stands near Porta Borsari in the central area of Verona and is easily reached while walking through the historic old town. The location offers good opportunities to explore other sights in the immediate surroundings.
The interior spaces feature decorations by Francesco Lorenzi and Louis Dorigny from the late 18th century, showing how the family continuously embellished their living spaces. These artworks demonstrate the Carlottis' trust in talented artists of their time.
