San Giovanni in Foro, Romanesque church near Piazza Erbe, Verona, Italy

San Giovanni in Foro is a Romanesque church with Renaissance elements located along Corso Porta Borsari in Verona. The building combines older stone structures with a portal displaying figures of saints and features carved reliefs inside.

The church suffered major damage from a fire in 1172, documented by a marble plaque on its external wall. It was later rebuilt and renewed with Renaissance features.

The church takes its name from Saint John, a figure of particular importance to Verona's religious community. Inside, visitors can see painted walls and carved reliefs depicting scenes connected to his life and veneration.

The building is located at Corso Porta Borsari 27 in central Verona and is accessible to those passing through the historic center. Hours depend on religious celebrations, so it is worth checking before planning a visit.

During 1905 renovations, workers discovered ancient Roman walls built into the church's outer structure. These walls display a fishbone pattern made from stones and pebbles, revealing Roman construction techniques.
