Palazzo del Mediterraneo, University palace in Naples, Italy
Palazzo del Mediterraneo is a university building in Naples city center at 59 Via Nuova Marina, extending across ten above-ground floors and two basement levels. The structure houses language laboratories, classrooms, and administrative offices for the university.
The palace was originally a residential building before L'Orientale University acquired and transformed it in phases between 2003 and 2005. This conversion changed a longtime housing block in the city into a modern educational center.
This palace serves as a hub for L'Orientale University and reflects how Naples has grown as an educational center. The building creates a space where language studies and international academic work happen at the heart of the city.
The building is easy to reach from Via Nuova Marina, where the main and administrative entrances are located. Language labs are found in the middle floors, so following directional signs will help you navigate between different areas.
The palace was designed by architect Massimo Pica Ciamarra and shows modern design that respects traditional Neapolitan urban spaces. The project's completion relied on long-term financial support from local banking institutions.
