Palazzo Frizzoni, Town hall in Bergamo, Italy
Palazzo Frizzoni is a municipal building in Bergamo featuring a granite facade with arched windows, Ionic columns, and a central portico that leads inward. The interior contains a courtyard and various rooms that combine administrative functions with historically significant spaces.
The building was constructed between 1836 and 1841 by architect Rodolfo Vantini in the Neoclassical style. It transitioned from a private residence to the municipal administrative center in 1933.
The council chamber displays the painting 'Battle of Legnano', created by Carrara Academy students under guidance from established artists. This work shapes the interior character and reflects the artistic training that was cultivated in the city.
The building stands at Piazza Matteotti 27 at the intersection of Sentierone pedestrian street and Via XX Settembre shopping district. Its central location makes it easy to reach and well integrated into the city center.
The building preserves the residential character of the Frizzoni family within its rooms, even though it serves administrative purposes today. This blend of private domestic style with public function makes the interior an unusual setting for a modern town hall.
