Description
The Chiesa di San Marco is a Renaissance church with a marble facade composed of two architectural orders. Doric columns stand at the lower level while Ionic elements rise above, creating a stacked classical design.
History
Construction began in 1572 as part of a hospital complex designed by architect Pietro Isabello. The building later transitioned from serving solely funeral purposes to becoming a place for regular worship.

The name refers to Saint Mark and reflects Bergamo's historical ties to Venice. Today it serves as a place where locals and visitors pause to observe the interior decorations that mark important religious moments.
