Palazzo Tasso, Medieval palace in Bergamo, Italy.

Palazzo Tasso is a medieval palace in Bergamo's old town featuring a spacious terraced courtyard spread across multiple levels. The interior rooms are adorned with elaborate ceiling paintings, including a work attributed to the renowned artist Giambattista Tiepolo.

The palace was built in 1480 and served as the court's seat during Venetian rule. Over the following centuries, it suffered damage from wars and disasters but was restored each time.

The palace takes its name from the family that held significant power in Bergamo for centuries. Inside, visitors can see rooms like the Mirror Parlor and Hall of Honor that reveal how the noble household lived and displayed their status.

Visitors should know that a broad external staircase provides access to the courtyard and leads to the various levels and rooms. It is helpful to wear comfortable shoes and allow time for your eyes to adjust when viewing the ceiling paintings in changing light.

A sundial from 1798 sits in the lower loggia and marks the exact local time with remarkable precision throughout the year. This handcrafted timepiece is often overlooked by visitors exploring other parts of the palace.
