Rocche del Crasto

Rocche del Crasto is a mountain summit in Sicily that rises at the edge of Nebrodi Park, featuring steep cliffs composed of gray crystalline rock and white-pink dolomitic limestone. The rock faces display a varied range of color tones, creating a distinctive landscape profile in the region.

This mountain formation originated during the Mesozoic era millions of years ago through geological processes. The rock structures have been continuously shaped by erosion and weathering, bearing the marks of this extended geological history.

The summit serves as a landmark connecting three traditional villages whose residents have long viewed it as part of their local identity. Visitors can see how the surrounding terrain has shaped the daily life and traditions of these communities.

Marked hiking trails within Nebrodi Park lead to the summit, with the route taking roughly two and a half hours to complete. The path requires moderate fitness and it is advisable to start with adequate water and sturdy footwear.
