Lago Trearie, lake in Sicily
Lago Trearie is a reservoir in northeastern Sicily near Randazzo and Tortorici, situated at over 1400 meters in elevation. The water body covers about 10 hectares and is surrounded by grasslands within the Monti Nebrodi mountain range.
The reservoir was built several decades ago to manage the region's water resources. Since its creation, it has supported local agriculture and community water supplies.
The lake holds meaning for local farming communities who have relied on its water for generations. Residents pass down stories about how the water has sustained their land through difficult seasons.
The lake is best visited in good weather when the sky is clear and views are bright. Roads lead to the area with signage pointing toward the water, making access fairly straightforward for visitors.
In early morning hours, mist often forms over the water creating a soft, foggy appearance that many visitors find beautiful. These quiet moments invite reflection while watching the natural world gradually awaken.
