Archaeological Civic Museum "Paolo Vagliasindi"
Archaeological Civic Museum "Paolo Vagliasindi", Archaeological museum in Randazzo, Italy
The Paolo Vagliasindi Archaeological Museum occupies a former prison tower built into the city walls and displays artifacts from ancient times. Inside you will find Greek pottery, decorated wine vessels, and bronze tools that show how people lived in this region centuries ago.
The museum was originally housed in a palazzo until bombing during World War II forced the collection to be relocated. It found a new home in this medieval tower, which became a safer location for preserving the ancient objects.
The collection reflects how ancient communities in this region lived and expressed themselves through everyday objects and decorated wares. These pieces offer insights into the daily practices and beliefs of people from centuries past.
The entrance is located along Via Castello in the old town, reachable through narrow streets. It helps to call ahead to confirm opening hours before planning your visit, as times can vary.
The ground floor displays two large ancient storage vessels, including a Greek container bearing inscriptions in Greek characters carved into the surface. These inscribed vessels reveal how traders marked and identified their goods in daily commerce.
