Rifugio Pordenone, Mountain hut in Cimolais, Italy
Rifugio Pordenone is a mountain hut at 1249 meters elevation where the Val Montanaia and Val Meluzzo valleys meet in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region. It provides ten rooms across two floors with sleeping capacity for up to 65 guests.
The refuge was founded in 1930 and has served as shelter for generations of climbers and hikers. Since its establishment, it has been a key base for exploring the mountain paths in this region.
The hut brings together hikers from around the world who share meals and stories over regional dishes. This simple hospitality creates bonds between people who might otherwise never meet.
The hut is open from late May through September when conditions suit mountain visitors. Its location at the meeting of two valleys makes it a natural starting point for exploring different hiking routes.
Just beside the hut rises the Campanile di Val Montanaia, a natural rock spire over 2000 meters tall. This striking formation attracts experienced climbers who seek to test themselves on its steep rock.
