The Sede storica Cassa Risparmio is a rectangular building with large windows facing an internal garden in Florence. The design combines classical exterior elements with modern interior spaces spread across multiple floors.

The Palazzo Pucci di Ottavio, built in the late 16th century for a secondary branch of the Pucci family, was sold in 1865 to Cosimo Ridolfi as the new seat of the Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze. Ulisse Faldi restructured the interiors in 1886, keeping only the via Bufalini facade. Giovanni Michelucci designed a new building on the site, whose first stone was laid on 25 March 1954 and which opened on 29 September 1957.

The building is still called after the Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze, which had its headquarters here from 1865 to 2009; since then it has housed the foundation of the same name. The entrance on via Bufalini passes through the surviving facade of the old Palazzo Pucci di Ottavio, so the bank's name and the palace front stand side by side.

The building is visible from the street and can be appreciated from outside, with its garden and windows viewable from ground level. Getting closer to examine the architectural details of the facade is recommended.

The facade on Via Bufalini is the only surviving part of the old Palazzo Pucci di Ottavio: Michelucci wanted to demolish it, but the Soprintendenza forced its retention. In 1960 the old hospital spice shop was demolished and replaced by a false antique portico by Nello Bemporad, with a bust of Bernardo Buontalenti by Mario Moschi over the central arch.
