Torre degli Azzoguidi, Medieval tower in Bologna, Italy

The Torre degli Azzoguidi rises 61 meters into the sky, making it the second tallest remaining tower in Bologna's historical center.

Built around 1150, the tower belonged to the Azzoguidi family until the 15th century when ownership transferred to the Muzzarelli family.

The structure demonstrates the architectural practices of medieval Bologna, where towers represented the status and influence of noble families.

Located near the Bologna Cathedral on Altabella Street, the tower now contains a watch shop at its ground level.

The base features ten rows of selenite parallelepipeds, with walls measuring 2.28 meters thick to support its vertical structure.
