Torri Michelin Nord, Skyscraper complex in Spina 3, Turin, Italy
Torri Michelin Nord is a complex of three residential and office towers in the Spina 3 district of Turin, each rising 21 floors and ranging from about 72 to 78 meters tall. The towers face Corso Mortara and are connected to six lower buildings through a shared base that levels a 5-meter difference in ground elevation.
The site was once occupied by a Michelin tire factory and was redeveloped as part of Turin's urban renewal following the city's selection to host the 2006 Winter Olympics. The three towers were completed in 2005 and were temporarily used as housing for journalists during the Games.
The complex sits in the Spina 3 district, north of the Dora Riparia river, and is easy to reach from central Turin. The towers are best seen from Corso Mortara, which runs directly alongside them.
The central tower bears the name Torre Monaco in honor of Antonino Monaco, a figure in the Piedmontese cooperative movement who originally proposed the project to the city of Turin. The three towers were intentionally designed by separate architecture firms, which is why their heights differ slightly even though they look like a single group from a distance.
